It's more of a cost limitation than anything. I am struggling to find any overnight trains less than 250 Euro RT. And we already have our airline tickets so an open jaw is not possible. Thank you for the Antwerp suggestion as I had not considered it.

That's awesome advice. Could you provide a URL for this site? Maybe I am doing it wrong but I can't seem to find the same prices. If we could get Berlin on an overnight schedule that might play well into our budget.
