We're thinking of leaving IAH on 14 January in the late afternoon and arriving back in Houston on Sunday.

One option that intrigued me was CO operates a flight departing LAS at 0100hrs arriving at IAH at 0540hrs. That would be ideal for a few reasons. We'd save on not staying in a hotel for the final night. We could pull an all day Saturday thing and arrive at LAS and be home in time to enjoy a day of rest before going back to work. And in my case...catch the NFL playoff games.

If we do that we can leave our bags in the car of the couple that is meeting us there from Los Angeles.

New York-New York was appealing. As was Planet Hollywood.

I haven't gone all out on research yet, but cursory glances at the hotel rates via their websites last night were coming out to about the same as the vacation packages. I think I figured it to be about $200 cheaper to book on one of the package sites rather than directly via CO.com and whatever hotel site.

Hell, thats an extra $200 that I'd have to blow in twenty minutes at the craps table!

Being a Vegas Virgins we will be looking for the whole ambiance and hustle and bustle feel. So I think staying on the strip is a must.
