Thanks, I'm also looking for ideas on using miles to upgrade. Since this is with partners, is this going to be very easy? I could book a flight in J with miles, buy one in coach with cash and then upgrade to J?

Anyone know any ways to get 80k more miles easily, such as using my friends' AMEX points somehow (can those be converted to AA miles or used for AA flights)?
