When a flight is delayed, you should always be near the gate area & keeping an eye on it. The flight can leave at any time. Any delays they give you are only estimates.
The messages might be a bit misleading. I would never show up later based on one of those messages.

I would be in the gate area at 8 AM. Unless you live 5 minutes away from the airport, did OLCI the night before, and TSA is empty, you should never leave that late.
Delayed flights CAN be moved back to on schedule. If there is a mechanical issue, they can easily pull the plane out of the gate, and put a different one in. Instantly on time.
