The more recent reviews on TripAdvisor are pretty dire, and I've been unsuccessful in getting any email queries answered by the hotel...and therefore would be grateful for any reports re recent stays.

Thanks in advance!
Hi,

We stayed at the Perth Hyatt in September this year, and also October the year before.

I too was a little put off by the reviews on Trip adviser, but was pleasantly surprised on both visits.

As a diamond member i was given club floor access and a bottle of wine. I used my Suite upgrade cert, but would not do so again as the suites were mediocre at best and notmuch thought had been put into the design.

Club lounge is good (although it does get very cold up there for some reason). Food ok and drinks plentiful. Staff are friendly (apart from one girl on our last evening who seemed to think she was doing us a favour by just being there).

Positives:

Good location - about 15-20 min walk into the town/train station

Food - Club lounge breakfast a little limited, but they do let you pay a small supplement to have the full aussie breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Evening cocktails - table service and good choice of snacks. WOuld serve quite nicely as a light dinner.

Room Service - used it once ... no problems.

Rooms - ok, but quite old and as i said before the suites really are not worth it. I am not sure, but i think they are starting to renovate some of the rooms as one room on the club floor was having alot of mainenance work and i peeked in and i could see a plasma screen tv etc etc.

Staff - Mostly friendly. Did not encounter any of the rude staff mentioned on trip adviser.

Concierge - Located outside in the entrance of the hotel and very helpful. Tours etc can be booked with them directly.

Negatives:

Rates - the room rates at this hotel tend to vary wildly in the few weeks up to check in. Eventualy i managed to reduce the cost of my total stay by about 20% just by rebooking a week before. I suppose this is a positive point, but could easily be a negative for those not aware.

Keys - they use an old yale type key system for the locks and if you drop it at reception on your way out, they did ask for photo ID upon collecting it on the way back. As i had given my id at check in found this a little odd, and normally i am asked to confirm my d.o.b or similar.

Pool - there is an outdoor one but does not look all that great. Never used it though

Overall - its not the best hyatt there is, but i am sure its not the worst. Would happily stay there again (but not in a suite unless you really need th extra space.
