The L/O they probably had was the studio portion of the 2 bedroom, since they had no washers or dryers, nor the fireplace,no full kitchen, nor the full baths.
I think if they were offered the regular ONE bedroom, not the studio, their stay would have been much more enjoyable.
As mentioned previous, most T/Ss do not include what the full service hotels can offer. (Not counting some in Mexico- like the Royals).
I think MAR might have been amiss because they did not give the families a list of activities, and most people not familiar with T/Ss would not know to ask.
They had no Ford Colony resturant guide, probably didn't know it existed, had no idea of the bike rntals, available golf (sometimes 6 free coupons), nor the sch. of childrens activities.
We were at MAR (Fords Colony), and had a great time. We were in the older section, had the fireplace, cherry antique furniture (my aunt would not have allowed us kids near it), the Baldwin wall lamps, and everything seemed to work fine.
But we knew we were literally renting this week as a 2 bedroom apartment from another owner. That means we would need to pay for any extras we would have liked from MAR- who are the managers.
But there is enough negative statements here, that I would suggest contacting the management. You have already informed the HOA
Please don't put off this resort. If you read the reviews on the Williamsberg T/Ss, this is the top one. On the TUG site, an owner of another resort refers to his as The Dump. (I disagree with that- however).
