TrojanHorse's experience at Manor Club is totally foreign to me as nothing like that has happened to me on my 15 or so weeks I've spent there.

Thinking is right on the money...Manor Club is not a hotel and doesn't pretend to be. Its setting in the middle of 54 holes of world-class golf is something to see. There are 2 dining rooms just a 5 minute walk away at the Ford's Colony clubhouse. One of them, 'The Dining Room', is the only 5-star AAA dining room in Virginia. http://www.fordscolony.com/dining/dining.html
Manor Club is the highest ranking domestic Marriott timeshare resort in the current Top 30 survey at TUG (Timeshare User Group), but the operative word is that it is a 'timeshare'.

You mention you were in a 'room', which seems to indicate it was the lockoff portion of a 2 bdrm suite - basically a bed, sofa, kitchenette and bath. The larger 1 bdrm portion has a full kitchen, living room, master suite with king bed and jacuzzi, even a washer dryer.

Timeshares are meant to be a home away from home for people who need more space than a little hotel room, and few of them have room service, valet parking, restaurants, etc. When I'm on a business trip I stay in hotels because, after a tiring day and alone, I often order room service, put my feet up and watch TV ... and collect those points.
