Williamsburg VA Marriott Vacation Club Ford's Colony - NOT Recommended
I do NOT recommend the Marriott Vacation Club at Ford's Colony (Williamsburg, VA).
First, I called the hotel after finding a $90 Corporate rate (that was the lowest available at the time) on the Marriott Website. Since I was indecisive about where I was going to stay, I noted it, and called the hotel about an hour later when I decided to stay here. It took ten minutes for me to get the reservations (hotel direct line) to "find" that rate (that was the time it took just to find the rate, not the entire call), she couldn't find that it even existed but I persisted and she magically found it after I wouldn't take many of the other higher rates she offered me.
I checked in around 8 p.m. Friday night (3/22) and it was rather empty, no cars, no lights on in the buildings from what I saw. Being a Plat, I asked for an upgrade to the best available room and they put me in what I perceive as their standard room. this would be acceptable as I was there only one night. However the room was FREEZING and I couldn't get the thermostat to work, so after turning it up and it taking over an hour to warm up, I couldn't get it to turn down without turning it off.
The next morning, at 10:15 a.m. I found a sign that said checkout is 10AM, well I walked down to the front desk and asked for a late checkout. They said that all they could do is c harge me for a 1/2 day if I stayed till 11 and a full day after that. After some discussion, Kelly said well I'll give you until 11:00 AM. I said the place is empty, all I want is until noon. She wouldn't budge. Neither Kelly nor the other front desk clerk would budge on this.
I filled out the comment card which ironically states "Our goal is total customer satisfaction". Now that is a bunch of crap if I ever heard it. From the moment I checked in to the moment I got out of that place, I didn't like the service, the room or anything about the place. If you are ever deciding to stay here, think twice. Go elsewhere.
