Maybe it's the asbestos in the walls talking, but I'll always have a soft spot (in my head, possibly) for LHR, if we can just pretend that T2 was all a bad dream.

But in my experience, the AC staff there is fantastic and LHR itself never fails to overperfom, possibly due to low expectations. But in the last four years I've only once or twice ever waited more than a few minutes in security or immigration and always had a smooth trip through. Even the priority baggage delivery has been working recently. Sure, it's not as nice a transit as ZRH or as efficient as MUC, half the extortionately-priced Left Baggage Company outlets close way too early, the HSBC ads seem to never change, it's always under construction, nobody really knows where they're going, and the Ireland gates remind me of a corrugated metal colon, but it's special in an "only at LHR" way.
