DL answered my email (see below). They would match ,me only from AA Executive Platinum to their Gold level. I am wondering if asking again in the Spring 2010, when the Dimaond level will exist, if they will still match to only Gold as Platinum will not be anymore thier highest Elite level.

"While we reserve the right of granting Platinum Medallion status only to
those members who achieve the status within our program guidelines, we
will consider a one time offer of Silver or Gold Medallion levels to
members who meet the requirements of other airline programs. If you are
interested in participating and to determine if you meet the criteria
for this one time offer, additional information is needed. Please submit
a legible photocopy of your Elite card showing the current status held
at this time in the airline program you use most frequently. Current
Delta SkyMiles Medallion members are not eligible to participate."
