There was a Courtyard Club for Life, which you recieved upon making Courtyard Club Gold for the first time. It included Courtyard Club membership fee waivers for life. For Courtyard Club Gold, however, you had to stay 36 nights each year to renew the Gold part. Your Courtyard Club membership was lifetime. Remember this was back in the days when it cost $10 per year to belong to Courtyard Club. The funny part was that when you renewed, you got coupons good for $20 off subsequent stays, so renewing actually saved you $10.
