Hi,

The Rennaisance Long beach ( R LB from now on) is in downtown long beach.

I do not know how far it is to the actual port ( 5 or 6 miles).

Things to do ( without a car).

They do have a Passport bus service ( every 15mins or so- free while downtown) that run to;

Aquarium of the Pacific (walkable from the hotel)
Queen Mary/Russian Submarine
Shoreline Village with shops and Restaurants-also walkable via the convention centre-the Hyatt is there too)
Belmont Shores ( 90cents on the bus)
Catalina Island for the ferry to Catalina Island
Pine Avenue (walkable) with shops/restaurants and a cinema.

The R LB looks good from the outside( I stayed at the Hilton along the road) and is in a good location.

Long Beach is a good area to spend a day or two ( or just a night).
Once at the aquarium you can walk along the shorline to Shorline village walking past the marina and boats available to hire. In season you can take the aquabus from here across to the Queen Mary (worth a visit) and from shorline village you can see the QM- it is lit up at night and it is quite a sight to realise how big she is.
(The dome behind the QM used to house the Spruce Goose but it is now destined to be used for Carnival Cruises next year)

Regards
TBS
