Can anyone comment on the baggage fee policy for the companion of a Star Alliance Gold member?

I couldn't find anything posted on the website.

I'll be traveling with my wife from MIA-PHL - I know that I get an allowance of 2 (maybe 3) checked bags - but would my wife... traveling on the same reservation have to pay to check her first bag?
