If the MQMs rollover, I'd avoid making Silver this year. If your travel for next year is enough to qualify for Silver in 2010, you might be able to turn that Silver into Gold by rolling over the MQMs you have now.
If it works that way - but I seem to recall reading something that implied that MQMs don't roll over if you don't make Silver.
MQMS only rollover if you have in excess of 25,000.
So if the OP does not reach 25,000 EQMs, then nothing will rollover, and he will start the next year with 0 EQM
It is definitely worth it for Silver Medallion Status.
-I have had upgrades 50% of the time (13/27 flights). Of course this depends on route/time etc.
