OK..I can't believe that I can't figure this out on my own this morning but .....

Looking to do a miles/co-pay upgrade CLE-EWR-LIS, LIS-LHR-EWR-CLE

On the return flight, if the LIS-LHR clears the waitlist but the LHR-EWR doesn't would the miles and copay still be charged or would be only based on whether the TATL part clears?
