
Sorry to hear that. I fly to Nigeria regularly and prefer my current routing on LH via FRA. However UA is our preferred carrier, so I guess I'll soon be forced to route via medieval IAD.

On the plus side I would expect UA to use lie-flat seats in C which would be a cut above LH ^
Currently the best way to get to Nigeria from USA is via Europe on LH, AF, BA or KLM. There is also a DL nonstop from ATL but the seating is horrid compared with the competition, particularly in C which is favored by business customers. So I can see how there is opportunity for UA here as there isn't much competition to West Africa. The stop in Accra is essentially the opposite of what LH does.
Nigeria is Africa's most populous country and I think the 5th largest supplier of oil to US. So when the economy recovers I expect this route will do well.
