Well I would actually stay at Ritz Carltons if only they offered points. Since they don't offer miles/points, I simply stay at a Renaissance or a Marriott (if there is no Renaissance in town). On my business trips I don't care for being pampered all that much so giving up Ritz is not a big deal to get some points (and I can then use those points to be pampered at a Ritz on vacation). I think Marriott would start getting more revenue from me at least if they were to give MR points for stays at Ritz.

As a side note, I chose to stay at the W in New York for about 14 weeks only because you get Starwood points as opposed to Ritz not giving you any reward. I put the W at almost of the same level as Ritz (although St. Regis would be more comprable to most Ritz). Would have stayed at the Renaissance, had it only been a little close to where I was working. Also picked the St. Regis in Laguna Niguel once over the Ritz there simply because St. Regis offers points. Now that was about a 6 weeks stay. Then once picked the Renaissance in Dubai over the Ritz for the same reason. So look at the loss in revenue for Marriott. And this is simply one person.
