For what it's worth, The Oakland Marriott is a full-service, category 4 hotel. It is on top of the 12th Street BART station which takes you into downtown San Francisco in about 15 minutes. But downtown Oakland isn't much fun, although Everett & Jones Bar-B-Q is about the best in the world and Chinatown and Jack London Square (including movies and clubs) are nearby.
