I repeat, I am not asking for compensation, nor is my business contact. The question is simply theoretical. As for your points,
"There is an long delay at immigration on an international flight (non US as they are pre-cleared)" - not caused by the carrier's negligence, so moot.
"A simultaneous baggage delay..... not impossible either." - possibly negligence, therefore subject to some sort of rebate/future credit/compensation if proved to be WITHIN THEIR CONTROL.
