People ask me this all the time. I have no problem moving you to an open seat, even with one open next to you. I will not, however follow the request to "not put someone else there". Each individual person is entitled to the best seat that is available that their fare/status allows. I do however always counter with a "an addl ticket for the seat next to you today is running at XXX dollars, if you wish to purchase an extra seat."
