Actually there are some Navarra that are OK. Although too many still follow the old overly oaky tradition of Crianza/Reserva/Gran Reserva. With the latter usually the worst...
What's the name of that small town in Navarra, with one of the better Paradores, and one of their leading (but overly oaky) wineries? No too far from the lower part of La Rioja actually. Nice place to stop for a couple of days.
BTW, next time you have a chance, you should try a Madiran if you have not already. Probably one from the Alain Brumont house. Montus or Bouscasse (with an accent).
