I know from previous posts here is they can accommodate you if they have an extra F meal onboard. However, I wasn't able to get a menu item for my LAX-NRT flight once because they didn't have any menu items left (flight was full in F). But that's just one of my experiences...again, YMMV.

It’s no surprise that NH might show more availability for its Mileage Plan members (just like how UA has special Y-class redemption for 1Ks and SQ have more redemption seats available for its KF members). But other *A airlines should show the same availability from the NH tool (unless you are redeeming using UA miles which might be blocked because of the *net blocking BS).
