I just realized my BA Gold Card is expired. I must have lost or mis placed the new one.

I just re-ordered a card from BA, says they'll dispatch w/in 28 days.

Does it usually take that long? How long is normal?

I ask because I am flying back to the States 17 Dec, and while in the US will be on AA, so I'll need to prove my status to avoid baggage fees, which will require card in hand.
