We traveled with our son's High School team for a sporting event but we stayed at a nearby Westin instead because of spg points (and because it was a much nicer location).

Now the team likes our choice better (rates were in the range of being comparable) and would like us to arrange 30-35 rooms for their next visit. Then, if the Westin plays their cards right, there is the potential to repeat the stay 2-3 times a year.

The club ultimately pays for the rooms but I am in charge of sealing the deal. Is there a way for us receive points? If not for the entire bill, then as a signing bonus? Does this need to be part of the group rate negotiation with the marketing dept. or is there a standard?
