We stayed here a couple weekends ago. Really enjoyed it, but would have to agree that it could use a makeover -not that anything was poor or shabby, just dated. We had probably the best checkin ever with Lindsay(?). We had arrived in at PHX at 9AM, took a cab to an offsite Avis- airport car rental taxes are unreal- and had planned to have breakfast at Matt's Big Breakfast which we had seen on Diners, Dives and Drive-ins recently but the line was so long we just opted to go straight to Tucson. Having had little luck with early check-ins we were going to just drop off our stuff and sightsee until the room was ready. However they got us in right away which was like having a whole day added to our stay. It was Parents Day for the University and it was tough just to get a point stay reservation so how that happened I don't know. Jack gave us a great tour of the property on a golf cart before dropping off our luggage. Guests can play at La Paloma Golf club (on the Golf Digest top 75 resort courses) which I took advantage of even though it was 99 degrees and cart path only

We ate at Janos, which was excellent but my favorite was next door at the J bar where I had the most delicious Jamaican jerk pulled pork followed by dark chocolate ice cream with candied jalapenos. I'd just about go back for that meal alone. Stayed on points and I don't think we were charged a resort fee. All in all, a very relaxing stay and we'd come here again, updated or not because of the staff and the grounds.
