that's for award tickets, folks.
in this case, the award ticket (two oneway awards, really) would be very attractive since date changes are free.
getting that kind of flexibility on paid tickets would take expensive fares, and even then the initial leg is never changeable anyway without repricing the whole ticket to current day's prices.
bottom line: take the award ticket. I would do that even if one or both directions have to be at 25K for First SAAver or Coach AAnytime.
