Wouldn't you be entitled to DBC if DL canceled the reservation but you made it to the flight on time? I know DBC applies to passengers with reservations on the flight, and technically DL would have canceled the reservation, but it seems to me that DL can't deprive you of DBC because they made a unilateral decision to cancel your reservation.

This is crazy. I have had so many run-for-it close calls at CVG, and made it much of the time. In one case I turned my phone on at landing and found a VM from a DL CSA, saying they were "watching" my late incoming flight and it didn't look like I'd make my Comair connection to BTV, so they'd booked me on the next avail, 15 hours and the next day later... but I ran, and caught my original conx anyway. If I now run the risk of running, getting to my connecting gate OK, but being forbidden to board because they've already given my seat away... I WOULD DESTROY THE GATE PODIUM WITH MY BARE HANDS.
This would be a serious disincentive to book DL flights through any hub, no matter how long the scheduled layover is.
