I found that most airports I fly out of have been strictly enforcing the boarding rules. I feel terrible sometimes when they call for *G and 1P, and a 2P is turned away and must do a somewhat "walk of shame" or stand off to the side to allow us to board. It's some childish in a way to give some people the "honor" of boarding first, but it's a perk I've come to enjoy.
However, at OGG, they did NOT board in order which was excrutiatingly frustrating to me. Once you get used to the priority boarding, which I had previously considered a somewhat useless perk, and it get's taken away, it really shows how much you value it.
