No recent reports, but I do know that the Maui Marriott was in the process of renovating its guest rooms in January 2001 when I stayed for two nights. Certainly has been completed by now. And let me tell you, the renovation couldn't have come at a better time. Our room, while clean, was worn and in serious need of attention. The location was great, I think, right up the road from Lahaina Town and alongside the Hyatt and Westin at Kaanapali Beach.

Expansive remodeled pool and deck area. Enjoy!

I have friends staying there at the end of the month. I'll get a report from them when they return and try to post prior to your flight west.

I actually liked the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort better than the Maui Marriott, partially because it is fairly secluded and more lush/tropical in landscape. Less touristy than the Kaanapali area, so a bit more serene.
