Name change on SkyMiles account - how long?
Does anyone know how many weeks I should expect it to take Skymiles to update the name on my account? I talked to the Plat desk on 10/3 and was told to fax the request along with ID to 404-773-1945. After a few weeks with no update, I faxed again on 10/25.
The problem is that our corp travel agent is now issuing tickets under my full legal name, whereas I had previously gone by my middle name. Naturally the bookings don't match my Skymiles account, so I've been in the back of the plane for a few weeks.
The irritating thing is that I called NW regarding two itineraries next week, asking that they at least move me into an open premium seat towards the front of the plane. They refused. I tried the Delta Platinum line too with the same result ("you should call NW"). The name on the ticket is LAST/FIRSTMIDDLE vs LAST/MIDDLE on the Skymiles account.
FYI, I made the same change on UA and they quoted a 3 week turnaround but were willing to move me to E+ seats as needed (1K). I also made the change on AS yesterday and it took 5 minutes. The agent actually stayed on the line until the fax arrived and made the change immediately!
