I had a conversation with a UA Flight attendant and I she said that one extender would result in a move from the exit row.

I am a bigger person but do not need an extender... but I think it is a good rule. You need to be able to move and react quickly and a larger person may not be able to react as quickly. Just as I do not want kids or immobile people in those rows.
