is wifi worth it for the provider and the user?

It's been a long time since I posted, I hope I remember how...

There are 2 questions that erk me about this service.

1) I have found that not a single aircraft I've been on in the last 3 months has had the GoGo service. Does Delta have a published plan on roll-out for this service on specific aircraft in their fleet? Or on specific routes? I can't imagine that the cost is worth it on a Transcon or Transatlantic flight for DL.

2) I've read some posts here on FT about the narrowness of the bandwidth. I can't imagine that the system can support more than 3-5 machines running simultaneously on an aircraft. That being said, I think the reported run speed was 11 Mbps, which in my opinion is not really adequate (the tech folks on here will correct me) to efficiently run an email client - web based or native on a machine.

I love the idea, I just don't think the technology is there yet. Nevermind the logisitics of battery life of our computers, or the space needed to open the average laptop.

In business and first class, this is clearly moot, since planes have powerports and more than enough space to operate our machines.
