From what I heard from the cafe at the Red Roof Inn (right next door) was that a couple months ago there was a huge labor dispute and protests. Law suits were filed over pay / compensation... and than all the sudden all the renovation stopped. Don't know what the deal is but that is the general story I've been hearing about this property. Luckily there is a Doubletree, Embassy Suites, and a "New" Hilton really close to the HGI.
