Sorrento would work. I don't remember the drive from Pompeii as taking particularly long. In fact, you can take a hydrofoil to Capri direct from Sorrento, which is infinitely more charmig than Naples. (Naples is not as bad as its depicted, but it is rather chaotic and not relaxing.)
