The wi-fi issue is a very good point. Had not thought of that. If I am PC member, I can't use wi-fi in the RCC, unfortunately. And it would be too much of a shlepp to go all the way to a PC club just to use wi-fi when I mainly fly United.
this may not be the most ethical thing to do, but if you're going on an intl itinerary as a star gold, stop by as many UA lounges en route to pick up as many of those wi-fi cards as you can. I've got two still left over from my last trip. The cards are each good for 24 hours. Some airports have like 3-4 RCCs, good opportunity to stock up on a few, as well as stock up on drink chits. Or just get a 3G access card if you need internet on the road all the time...
