....a quick question that is!
OK, I am overwhelmed by the breadth of this forum. I stumbled upon it when I was googling info on the skymiles program trying to help myself. I then realized how clueless I was and that maybe a pro on here could help my sorry self.
I fly b/w JFK and MCO about 3 to 4 times a year. Not exactly a frequent flyer. I have managed to rack up 29K miles within the last few years. I always thought that the general amount of miles I would need for an award ticket was 25K, and was excited to book my next flight and not have to pay for it!
Well, the next flight I need to book isn't until May, but right now the awards are all either 32,500 or 40,000 despite the fact that on Delta's handy little online chart the days I'm trying to travel are all considered "low". I'm also flexible with my dates and have tried altering them with no luck. So my question is this: Considering it's October, would one expect that the award tickets will become available at a later point in time for less miles, or is the 25K award ticket a thing of the past??
I'm sorry if this is the dumbest question ever, but I've never paid any attention to any of this stuff. I just like to go to Disney World a few times a year.
So if anyone out there could advise me on whether I'm better off waiting, or if I shouldn't hold my breath. I'm also wondering at what point I would see the cash fares come down from their high points. A good fare for me is usually under $200 RT, but they have hovered in the $250 for many weeks. Have fares been making upward trends that I just don't know about?
Any info on whether Delta has decreased service to MCO recently and if so, would that have a bearing on my experiences?
Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone willing to take the time to shed some light on my query....I sincerely appreciate any help you can give me.
I think once I redeem this award ticket I may make the switch to JetBlue. Any advice there?
