Though not all of those were buy-and-shutdown. PIT was a long-time US Airways hub when they acquired Piedmont, and was only shut down later when new hubs seemed to make more sense to the company. Likewise, LAS was a long time America West hub when they bought US Airways (and I always thought it strange for them to have had two hubs so close together).
