There are actually 3 different Marriott branded Visa cards for US residents. The Premier card that Sharon mentions tends to give the best overall benefits (more sign-up bonus points, more points for Marriott stays, a free night cert every year, etc.), but it does cost more than the other two with an annual fee of $65. And that annual fee is NOT waived even for the first year.
There is a Personal Signature Visa card,
Personal Visa, that comes with fewer benefits and a lower annual fee of only $30. And the first year is free.
There is also a Business Visa card,
Business Card, that also has fewer benefits and a lower annual fee of only $30. And the first year is free.
My personal preference is if one is planning on actually staying at Marriotts, then the Premier card, even with the higher annual fee, is the card to go with. The annual free night cert more than offsets the fee and after your first year the free night is a Cat. 1-5 (it is a Cat. 1-4 only the first year) which includes some Marriott resort properties.
