The lost laptop claim has been resolved for the estimated replacement value. In California, liability is limited to $250 and that will be covered by Hyatt's insurance company. The difference will be covered by Hyatt as a goodwill gesture, although they are under no legal obligation beyond $250. Thanks to all for the reassuring stories!
