You might want to call them as the OW policy is there but the reality is sometimes not... I have had multiple issues with Lan Chile with this... they have not been able to tag my bags through even when on same ticket/PNR, I have pushed a lot with supervisors etc. but no, sometimes they have not managed to do it...and w/o being able to identify to me why..that's even worse..

Then again, I have had Lan at LAX to issue the longest luggage tag of my personal history, a series of 5 flights (w/different flight numbers, all being internatioanl to international) over a time frame of ~55hours (2 separate luggage tags attached to my bag)...but that was all on LA so the issue is clearly with LA & other OW airlines..
