The "cheap" awards to Asia do exist. It does take some sleuthing. I managed to get a BOS-MNL award for late Nov 5 months ago in J for only 120K miles.

If you aren't like me and don't enjoy playing with the award calendar on dl.com, calling an agent is worth the small $$ to find the cheaper stuff. Oh yeah, I'm flying upstairs on this trip too
