I decided to go with Marriott's elite program. I would rather be with a hotel that is pretty consistent worldwide, with lots of properties, and most importantly, where status means something and is EARNED.

This got me thinking. Which airline has a great network, a consistent product, and an elite program which gives the same pride that a Marriott's would hold. Where business and first class feel like upgrades and not just a glorified economy product.
