The Rainbow Bridge (the crossing closest to the NF Marriott) is not known for having long delays. According to the signs on the NY Thruway, the delays are usually in the 0 to 30 minute range.

Using either the bridge to the north (Lewiston-Queenston) or to the south (Peace Bridge) can be problematic because those bridges are the most direct routes and/or have the most truck traffic.

Just make sure you have your passport, and don't even mention anything about this being a business trip, especially when you are going into Canada.

Another thing that may matter is that apart from border delays, it will be a 30 minute drive to Tonawanda which is where you would tie into the I-290 which is the main route for circulation around Buffalo and its suburbs. Or, from that point, it is about 15 minutes on the I-190 into downtown Buffalo.
