I can tell you that when I am up front driving and forget to turn off my cell phone I can hear some interference in my headsets. Dont know if anything else happens, but why take the chance? Why do you want your phone on? It just runs the battery down faster, once you are above about 3000 feet you wont be able to make a phone call anyway, so just turn it off.
