NW gave more information like this to pre-empt any disputes on mileage credit - a nice labor savings feature so we could figure things out ourselves instead of using expensive staff time.

DL has a different approach - too much information in the customers hands shifts the dynamic between supplier and buyer. It's behavioral - much in the same vein as with taking a perk away then giving it back later as a new give with another removed in tradeoff.
