The lane are self-selected. Pick anyone you want, and if a TSO has a fit, he/she will get over it soon enough. And just to let you know, "family lanes" are also for those who are newer and/or unsure what they need to do so they need more time. But if the lane is nearly empty, I would pick that one too.
