I'm not sure how you would get to Petra ( Jordan) from Abu Dhabi/Dubai as it could be time consuming to get to there. I would probably skip Petra on the trip.

I was thinking Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Amman and then have a driver take us to Petra and back. But maybe it will make it too much of a hassle and we could leave that to another trip and do Petra and Aqaba together (we've already done AMM).
