I don't know the full extent of the testing, but it did include the big mass participation days, when many different types of guinea pig were used, including many who would probably fall into the "clueless" category. Although everyone knew that they weren't actually going to fly, they were all equipped as if they were going to. Was the system obviously unworkable? It didn't seem so to me.

And like new aircraft, a novel system like this probably can't be tested thoroughly except in real life over a period of time. We have now done it, and it seems that the result is that too many of T5's users can't cope with the system.

Personally, I have no difficulty with it. My only real gripe is that there's nothing very solid to hang on to whilst queueing, so that I can undo my shoelaces without providing pre-flight entertainment to the masses by hopping around and vainly trying not to fall over in the process.
