How about Muscat in Oman ( one stop in Abu Dhabi )- very nice, and tempreatures will be nice in December.
Other alternatives, Cairo?, Tel Aviv, North Africa?
For the US you would probably need to get to Florida ( 9 hours ) or LA/PHX ( 10 hours for warmer weather)
