To me the Patriot Act is always equated with Hitler's state of emergency after the Reichstag burning. And popular reaction was the same. These guys can't get away with this stuff except that the population becomes mental. In both Germany and America, that in fact did happen. I felt surrounded by pod people in September 2001. Even some QUAKERS started talking like redblooded Americans. I tried very hard to get some sense out of them (I hang out with Quakers) but it was futile. I doubt Hitler ever converted German Quakers, but George Bush did manage to convert some American Quakers.
So, what's the odds we can get the Patriot Act repealed? Will any senator or congressman be brave enough to carry the banner? I doubt it.
That being the case, are Americans WORTHY of freedom? If we are SO mental as to support something like the Patriot Act, how do we expect to keep our rights?
